The silica-to-alkali ratio decides whether a silicate behaves as a binder or as a builder. Higher-ratio grades favour film formation, adhesion and silica chemistry; lower-ratio alkaline grades favour detergency and saponification.
Start with the failure mode
Before comparing price, describe what goes wrong today: slow set, poor green strength, nozzle fouling, or inconsistent alkalinity. Each points to a different ratio and solids window.
Then fix the variables you control
Because we fuse our own glass, the approved ratio is set at the furnace rather than corrected downstream — which is what keeps monthly deliveries comparable.
