Sodium silicate glass is produced by fusing silica sand with soda ash at high temperature, then cooling the melt into transparent solid lumps or cullet. The ratio is fixed at the furnace, which is what makes downstream dissolution predictable.
It is bought by silicate processors, silica and zeolite manufacturers and detergent producers who dissolve it on their own site, as well as feeding our own liquid silicate and metasilicate lines.
